campfire2.gifContext of My Action Research Project.

Our school welfare team monitored the implementation of our values program, the connectedness of our community, and the welfare of staff. The need for research into this area came about from our school observation survey, staff feedback and recent school review. In preparedness for an increase in student numbers for 2010, with less space in the yard due to building structures, we have sort to streamline our welfare strategies.
My school has a School Family Occupation (SFO) of .34, are predominantly Anglo-Saxon with both or one parent working in a professional occupation.
Through monitoring school welfare and student wellbeing we have found many issues in how students deal with certain conflict, parent’s deal with child conflict and teachers deal with parent conflict. We needed to streamline our welfare approach to combine all major stakeholders of our school – Teachers, Students and Parent’s.
We began by asking our selves questions to begin the research process:
  • · How do we build a Resilient Responsible Community?
  • · What are the components of a successful whole school welfare program?
  • · Can a three-way welfare approach work to build a Resilient Responsible Community?
